Haha, this is probably a dumb question but I just ordered my new MacBook. I’m really excited but I’m wondering if maybe I should wait a while to open it since I don’t leave for college until the end of August. For those who already have their new computers, are you using them right now?

Yes, I am using it now lol.

I know exactly what you mean. I just ordered my new Macbook too and this thought just ran through my head no more than 10 minutes ago, “Oh no, what if it gets scratched? Or damaged? Or if I drop it?” It’s gonna be my computer for 5+ years for college and usually I’m really careful but…
…I’m not gonna wait. It’d be nice but if I wanted to wait to avoid it getting damaged or something, I would have ordered it in a month or two.

But what if that stuff happens while you’re at college? Is it really such a big difference?

Didn’t any of you purchase an accidental warranty? I lean towards having this type of warranty on a $2000 laptop because of their wonderful mobility. JMHO

open it now in case there’s anything wrong with it and you can work it out now, instead of when you really need it.

Not only that, you want to make sure you have everything you want on it and that you are comfortable with everything on it. That way, when you get to school you can mainly focus on school work and friends, rather than how to use your computer.

I’m not ordering mine until a month beforehand anyways. I think I will use it once it gets here because I want to be comfortable with Windows 7 (although I hear it’s very intuitive) and Office 2010. Plus, I want to have everything set up and comfortable. I will probably use it for 3-4 weeks before I leave.

Haha no. I went to the Apple Store today and bought my Macbook Pro and I am currently typing away on it. I will probably order Office for Mac sooner or later and maybe get a new laptop sleeve.

I just got my new mac, too, and I just couldn’t wait. I’m using it right now. Plus, I figured I needed to get acquainted with the mac os before I got thrown in headfirst.
