Yep- and they warned me NOT to go on it. It’s disgusting (but entertaining in a gross way) and I don’t think they are even visiting the site anymore. I heard all I need to hear and will stay away.

I think I read an article about it somewhere suggesting that a substantial portion of the “chatting” involves men (and women, too) exposing their private parts to any and all people they connect with, underage or otherwise. A lot of them, apparently, are college kids who think they’re being funny. How creative of them.

I wasn’t familiar with it until I heard the Ben Folds improv piano odes to the site. Go to youtube and search [Ben Folds Chatroulette.](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfamTmY5REw&feature=channel)

My daughter, too, said that it was scary and horrifying. Yet, she also said it is kind of addicting. Despite my curiosity, I have not looked at it. Have any parents on this forum looked at it?

Thanks for the warning. At my age I try to be more judicious about what pictures I put in my head, because once they’re in there, they stay in there. So I turn away from picture ads about abused children and animals (I already know how sad and outraged I am), and stuff like Chat Roulette. Even if some of them are funny, I really don’t need a mental picture of some fat, hairy 50-year-old guy engaging in solitary entertainment.

Instead, go to a site called pixdaus, and look at the beautiful photos of landscapes from all over the world.

^I will check that out.

I just want parents everywhere to know that this site exists. I feel like am I more aware than most, and I had never heard of it.

I’ve been hearing about it for awhile but have not tried it. I know what a ***** looks like already, thanks; don’t need to reward a bunch of pervy strangers who think showing it to me will be a thrill.

D1 reported that some of her college friends have tried it (translation: she’s tried it with them but isn’t going to tell Mom that!), and that yeah, there were a lot of pervs and creepers. But one of her friends got to Chat Roulette the Jonas Brothers.

I suspect some commercial applications will emerge out of it eventually, like virtual speed-dating networks and possibly job-networking events online.

I think that kids like to go on there in groups to laugh at the weirdos, but the thought of a solo teen talking to a creeper is especially scary to me.
