i would like to major in areospace engineering but i really have no clue what it actually is. All i know is you can go to boeing or nasa or something similar. I plan on going towards airplane path but what exactly will i do with airplanes? I want to get a ph.D however my dad is getting sick so i might have to get a job so ph.D might be put on hold. so i heard many engineers quit before graduating… should i be worried?

most people who quit weren’t forced to quit. they quit mostly because they found they like something better than engineering or realize engineering isn’t for them.

so if you know you want to do this till the end, you will graduate.

I think a lot of the people who quit are the ones that don’t know what they’re in for and have misconceptions about the field. If you’re disciplined you will have no problem getting a degree in engineering. Look into the field, visit schools and check out their departments. As far as going for your doctorate, generally what happens is you get a research assitantship with a professor and in return you get your tuition waved and you are given enough money to live on. So you don’t really have to worrying about paying for grad school, just undergrad.

You’re given enough money for you to live on your own, but if there are significant medical bills to pay or if you have to help raise a family, the graduate stipend will not be enough.
