ARGGGH, can someone please evaluate my curriculum?

Hi guys

I come from a canadian high school, it’s public so there is no fancy stuff like AP or honors… it doesnt even offer IB but that’s my only choice for high school so o well…

can someone please evaluate my curriculum?
I really don’t understand how rigorous is really " most rigorous available" for PENN

My school only has 6 levels:

ACADEMIC for those Grade 9+10s who are heading for university,
APPLIED for those Grade 9+10s who are heading to community colleges,
OPEN which can be taken without a pre requisuit,
E for those heading to work place after high school ,
U-level for seniors heading to University,
C-level for seniors heading to College
(U/C means this course applies to both levels)

please please tell me how rigorous my curriculum is… and PLEASE BE HONEST.
i can take it =)

but really , any type of feedback, as long as it’s serious, is welcome and LOVED!!!

Thank you all again! =PPPPPP

I’m not familiar with the Canadian academic system, but it’s pretty much up to your guidance counselor or college advisor. If he/she marks “Most Rigorous” on the Secondary School Report, you’re good. However, if you haven’t taken full advantage of your school’s curriculum, your counselor/advisor will indicate that.

I took the most rigorous selection but my GC read the question wrongly and checked rigorous. Lol.

lol
poor IntlCher …

any more comments?
any CCers from canada who can hel=p me out?

plzzzzz

Just take the most rigorous courses available and don’t stress…
Also in the States, “college” and “university” mean essentially the same thing…maybe you should specify, for clarity, that college = two-year program while uni = usually 4 year??

well
college in canada means community college
like…the really informal ones
universities are universities as they are in US

also
i have a question

if i want to take a course, but this course doesn’t have a RIGOROUS level, like say its highest level is U/C (as i stated above), does it mean that my course load is not the most rigorous available?

thanks!

bump!!!

canadians plz help =0

yah only a handful of high schools in canada would offer the equiv to a mra U.S. courseload so I’m curious how they deal with this.

i noe
lets all bump n wait for answers =P

well, i think the first sign of vigourous is whether you are taking spares or not. So don’t take spares =) (gr. 12 is okay i guess…)
second, all the u courses are the most vigourous here in canada (IMO, they are the same as IB as IB is just a standarized curriculum). However, if there’s enriched or gifted (which I am/take), then take that. the course code is U6 for gifted instead of the acdemic which is U1.
For those U/C courses, they do count as “vigourous” because they are the highest (i.e. in financial studies - accounting, all the courses are M (U/C), it’s just how tdsb works :S)

As for the AP courses, I feel they are almost the same level as the grade 12 courses here in Canada. Does anyone agree or disagree? i think this is cuz of the old oac program and now everything is condensed…

dont universities try to get really familiar with the school before even evaluating an applicant. just in case explain how your school works. also if your counselor checks more rigerious you should be fine
