Arghh, I can't wait for mid-December...

...for the extended edition DVD of The Return Of The King!

Sorry about that. =D
But seriously, at least that'll be a consolation for me if I'm deferred.

If I'm rejected... hmmm... maybe I should start thinking about building myself a funeral pyre... no tomb for Wui Ming... I shall burn like the heathen kings of old...

By the way, when's The Phantom of the Opera coming to theatres? If I'm not mistaken it's around the same time too. Can't wait for that either! I've never had the chance to watch the actual musical.

Any other Tolkien fans in the Yale forum?

I'm a huge tolkein fan... and an ORIGINAL fan at that before all the fanfare of the movies. I read LOTR in 3rd grade and I was Frodo for Halloween in 4th grade. lol

Elen sila lumenn omentielvo! Quetalye Quenya? (I'm not sure if that second sentence is correct - I tried learning Quenya for a while last year but after a long hiatus I've forgotten almost everything!)

I read the Hobbit when I was very young, but I must confess I didn't read LOTR until hype for the first movie started building up. I've read it countless times since then, though. But none of this "original fan" stuff - I have no patience for elitism (though I guess that's strange coming from a Yale applicant. OK, so some elitism is fine, but... oh never mind!). The way I see it, there're so many more novels than I can possibly read, and the coming/existence of a film adaptation is a perfectly valid reason to choose one novel over another. I like comparing novels to films, anyway.

I'm not being elitist... I'm glad the movies came out and the book has exploded. I just take pride in being an old fan. My dad was a huge fan when he was in college and he gave it to me to read as soon as he felt I could handle the reading level of it.

Sorry, I don't think it came out quite the way I intended it - the "elitist" thing was just meant to be a friendly needle, but I think it sounded harsher - sorry! I didn't mean it.

No prob... I didn't take it in a bad way.
