Arizona State University Health SOM Receives LCME Accreditation

The John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering At Arizona State University received preliminary accreditation from the LCME and will begin recruiting its first class of 36 students to start in August 2026.

Applications for ASU Health SOM open Nov 25th.

Students at the ASU program will earn 2 degrees during their 4 years in the program: a MD and MS in Medical Engineering.

Because of engineering component of the program, students applying to ASU will need additional coursework beyond the typical pre-med requirements.

Engineering readiness requirements include:

  • Calculus (both calc 1 and 2)

  • Multivariate calculus (calc 3)

  • Differential equations

  • Linear algebra

  • Statistics (mathematics-dept based)

  • Physics (calculus -based)
