<p>Has anyone here read Ayn Rand’s novel Fountainhead? How relevantly does this novel reflect a life of an architect? What are real architects’ views on this novel?</p>
<p>I’m actually reading this novel right now. I don’t think it really accurately illustrates the life of an architect since the novel is based on two extreme individuals. I mean, how often do you meet architects like Howard Roark who refuse to conform to design standards of that particular time? Rarely.
And how often do you meet a greedy, selfish ■■■■■■■ like Peter Keating? Probably all the time.
I, however think that the Fountainhead reflects the competitive nature of the field pretty well. I don’t know if i’m ready for a nasty, brutal profession like that :'(</p>
