Among my current accepted choices, the dilemma is between SVA and ACCD for animation; while SVA is ranked much higher at 5th or 1st depending on the source, I find their student work laughable…I follow numerous students on social media and it is unbelievable the low and similar quality of work produced. ACCD there is virtually zero student work available anywhere, as the program was only started in 2016. But from the looks of their curriculum and faculty in comparison to SVA, it is much more well rounded, though it is a seemingly huge risk as there is no evidence of work quality…
Can’t help you but have to agree about the SVA student work.
Can you call ACCD and maybe get some web sites or youtube videos that have student work? There is bound to be some.
I don’t know much about Character Animation, but the new chair appointed in 2016 (Aretos) has an impressive background. His quote below sounds like ACCD grads do well in the industry.
“Throughout my filmmaking career, I have constantly been surrounded by ArtCenter alumni,” Aretos said. “I’m always impressed by their passion, intellect and dedication to the craft. We share the same passion, regardless of generation, and I look forward to harnessing that spark to expand the opportunities available to ArtCenter’s Entertainment Design students.”
I’ve looked at ACCD for film, so that’s all I’m familiar with. Their student films are exceptional.
I’ve contacted the Admissions about student work and the response was “Huh. I don’t know either. Have you tried Google? I’ll go look around for some for you.” And that was 5 months ago…not a great first impression…
