Art history help????

I’m learning Romanesque art and I don’t know what two influences changed the design of churches! Help!!!

Well, at the time, pilgrimages became a more commonplace practice. In order for churches to be able to cater to such an increase in pious people, a change in church structure was necessary. As a result, places such as the radiating chapels and ambulatories were used in order to accommodate people that would not usually fit in the nave.

I don’t know if this would count as another factor, but perhaps you could talk about how it reinforced the authority of the Church, considering the medieval time period revolved so much around religion. Because of their high level of piety, architects felt that making edifices larger in size would mirror the power and wealth of the Church.
