<p>If you or your offspring just graduated from an art school, can you list what they will be doing now that they’ve got that BFA/BA in hand?</p>
<p>Can we extend this to Art Majors in general? What has an art degree done for you?</p>
<p>I got an art degree from a university, not an art school. I work in marketing for a major consumer package goods company, as a Product Manager. That means, in effect, that I invent new products and tell other people what to do. :winks: </p>
<p>As part of my job, I’m in charge of all of the point-of-sale materials for my company - so I boss around designers, and my stuff is shown in major retailers. I also do label design - again, at this point, I give guidance and tell people what to do, rather than having to actually do the art myself. </p>
<p>That was a choice on my part. There are other career paths that I could have taken that would have allowed me to do the actual design work, but I purposefully went in a different direction. </p>
<p>I had my BA in art, and later got my MBA.</p>

<p>My son just graduated from Tufts/School of the Museum of Fine Arts. He hasn’t been able to find a job so far. He applied for a job in medical illustration and didn’t get any response.
He’s applied to about a dozen jobs total. He may go back and take a few courses in Web Design or something. He also can’t find a roommate for his apartment and may have to come home. The economy is terrible.</p>
