Art supplement question-last one for a while. Maybe.

On the Class of 2017 optional arts form it says you can attach a recommendation from an instructor familiar with your work. How long should this recommendation be? Can I send in two recommendations? I want to include one from the dance instructor who’s helping me put together the video as well as one from the instructor who’s known me since kindergarten and has seen my dance ability grow and change.

I’m assuming the instructions are going to stay basically the same and you’re still going to be able to submit a rec. My dance teachers get really busy in the fall and I want to ask them in advance.

The rule of thumb is one additional supplemental rec letter – and only if it brings in something not covered in the teacher rec letters. Multiple supplemental rec letters seldom impart new info to your file readers and are thus, unwanted.

“The thicker the file, the thicker the kid”

agree with T26E4. When it comes to supplemental arts recommendations…stick with one strong recommendation…choose the best maestro/teacher who you feel will AUGMENT your application as a whole…rather than someone who will just repeat the same things the others are saying…

…the more superfluous recommendations you have…the more they will diminish the IMPACT…

Thank you so much! That makes a lot of sense.

Are the resume and recommendation letter sent electronically or as hard copies with my DVD? (Sorry if that’s an obvious question.)
