<p>Of course the real story is surely a bit more nuanced - you don’t get such an article placed in the NYT without (1) a good agent and (2) a good deal if writing work on the side.</p>

<p>My guess is that his motorcycle “business” is more of a cover story for his real career of writer. Heck, PhD turned mechanic will look great on the book jacket. Sure sounds better than former lobbyist.</p>
