I understand the formal nature of the academic LORs. How did you all handle the artistic LORs. Is it okay to have the recommender write the letter and give it to us to send with all the other items we have to send? Does is need to be in a sealed envelope?

^That’s what we did, and yes, it should be in a sealed envelope. As a recommender, I always sign the back of the envelope over the seal, and my own kids’ recommenders have also done that with “real” letters. We also got extra copies (in sealed/signed envelopes) and ended up needing a few of them.

I agree 100% with Times3. All LORs should be in a sealed envelope with a signature over the seal.

None of the places my son applied wanted artistic Letters of Recommendation at all. Which was disappointing, because we had lined some up.
