What GPA do you think lies within the top 3% and top 10% for Arts and Sciences? I know statistics aren’t really available, but what would be a good educated guess?

Considering GPAs are completely subjective and based on arbitrary scales, I’d say somewhere between a 3.8 to a 104.684, but maybe a 9.44

Anyone else?

It is your GPA in comparison to others at your school who take a similar rigorous course load that is important. You need to be in the top 10% of your own school peers to have a good chance of admit.

Why are you asking for another answer. Was mine not sufficient!?

My GPA is out of 100, I have a friend whose is out of 8, and I know a lot who are out of 4.

My school gives a 10% weight to AP classes, I know of schools who give a 1 point boost, and I know many schools who do nothing.

My school counts all electives including gym towards GPA, I know of many that don’t count gym, and many that count only come classes.

GPA means absolutely nothing out of context, which is why your school sends every college you apply to a school profile…

I mean the top 3 or 10% for students who are currently in Arts and Sciences… not high school students. I am currently a student at Cornell.

@newyork21, if that is the case, you have my most sincere apologies. Without clarification, I think it would be fair to assume that at this time (the peak of application season), you were referring to acceptance statistics. Sorry if I came off as rude.

These are the requirements for the CAS Dean’s List. I’m not sure what percentage of students end up on the Dean’s List so it doesn’t really answer your question, and maybe you’ve already seen this link before, but here it is anyway: http://as.cornell.edu/academics/advising/deans-list-req.cfm
