Arts schools in small college towns

Are there any good art schools in college towns? I loved the campus feel of Pratt but would love to be in a small town not a big city. I’m looking in the northeast - 4 hours drive from Philadelphia.

Any financial considerations? What major do you plan on?

There’s the SUNYs. Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, New Hampshire Institute of Art, Pennsylvania College of Art and Design.

Have you looked into the art programs within the universities of these college towns? Or the smaller liberal arts colleges? You could still do a BFA there but also be integrated into the wider college body rather than being on the periphery.

Fortunately no financial constraints as my tuition is paid by tuition exchange. I really want the focus on practical art - not too much academic - but I would like a wider student body. Not sure what my major will be - probably photography but that might change after trying other art forms.

If cost is not an obstacle…how about Bard?

Have you looked @ Alfred University? It has highly ranked BFA and MFA programs and is in a very small town that is centered around the university and SUNY Alfred that is across the street.
