as a CC transfer student what do I do...

to get noticed by USC…how do I get involved in extracurricular activities during community college the way I did in high school?
and what type of extracurriculars should I do?
so far: I have a steady job, international/national sports involvement/ good grades/ animal volunteering/ and what other things should I do and get on my resume before I apply?

also I want to major in public policy/kinesiology/global health one of these with international relations.

it sounds like you have a great start already.
maybe do something within the medical field to show your interest in kinesiology/global health. you could see if you could get an internship or shadow or something either a doctor directly or someone who works on a hospital board to learn about their policy making. i don’t know if that’d be necessary to get into usc though because you’d probably do that as you got closer to getting your degree.
i would say just join clubs at your current school that are related to your passions and take challenging courses and keep your GPA up.

USC is one of the more selective and highly ranked schools in the country. Therefore you can expect a competitive selection process for admission, especially as a transfer from a Community College; especially considering that the CC > 4 year route has become rather popular in the recent years.

I suggest that you involve yourself in the student leadership at your school and show willingness to take positions which have concrete responsibilities. Be it Student Senate, or Extracurricular Clubs. Most importantly, keep a very close track of your achievements and make sure that you have a rock-solid recommendation.

In regards to academics you should be pulling as close to a 4.0 as possible and make sure to take all the courses which are encouraged of transfer students. That means sciences, calculus, and literature.

SAT’s, while not required will be important because the standards in Community Colleges tend to vary from school to school, especially if you are coming from an institution which does not have clear matriculation agreements with USC. Therefore aim for at least 700 on the three sections.

Side note. I transferred into USC from a Community College, so if it helps here are my vital statistics.

-Business Administration: General.
-Liberal Arts & Sciences: Behavioral & Social Sciences.

Overall GPA: 3.85
Program GPA: 3.91, 3.95
SAT Math: 710, SAT Reading: 750, SAT Writing: 780

Extracurricular:

Notable Courses:
