I can’t speak for Penn and Yale but Cornell is no longer going to be offering alumni meetings to anyone other than students applying for Architecture Art and Planning.

For Yale, depends on how competitive your application is relative to others in your region. It is possible that it is so stellar that no interview will be necessary or it might not hit the bar where the AO needs context from an interview.

Building upon what @BKSquared says, Yale outright says that they will not interview all applicants, and that they will only interview those from whom they need more info. We’ll leave it to you to decide whether getting or not getting an interview request is good or bad.

Penn randomly assigns interviews based on availability. While NYC is the largest city in the US, and has a large number of alumni, it also has a large number of applicants. And not all alumni want to interview. So no guesses can really be made.

Given the above observations (which are all accurate to my knowledge), my two cents is you should really not try to read anything into whether you are or are not offered an interview. But if offered, you should do it, and then be prepared.
