As in Biomedical Engineering Technician VS AS in IT

What would you guys suggest at the moment I am a student in a BMET programs but am strongly considering switching to IT, is the IT field really as saturated as it is made out to be? Or should I just stick with the BMET for relative security?

What will you do in IT?

Either network administration or network security. Im not exactulry sure yet.

Networking is a good area and covers a lot of ground in terms of how many more places it is needed.

Have you looked into job prospects for the areas under consideration in your state or wherever else you are planning to settle down?

It does look like BMET pays more at the beginning than Networking. Beginning salary is one way to determine which has a shortage of people at the moment.

I havent really looked around too much besides my state. I am pretty open to moving anywhere that is close to a big city.

I have also thought about getting my degree in BMET while at the same time getting certs for IT.

How long does it take you to do both?

there both 2 year programs the BMET I would have 2 go for summer also.

So it will take you 3-4 years or is a cert a shorter time frame?

If I choose the IT it would be 2 years and I would get certs while studying for school like the comptia A+, network + and the security + certs. The certs don’t have a time limit you just take the test when you think you have enough knowledge

Good luck. It takes time and money but whatever you can study will be useful.
