Ashley Madison data shows which elite American universities have the most cheaters

Cornell is the clear winner, although Caltech may just have people with enough computer sense not to use their email accounts. On the other hand Cornell is much bigger.

I wonder why so few from Princeton and Brown.

Perhaps alumni of those schools are not allowed to have university e-mail addresses for life, the way Cornell alumni and those from many other colleges are.

here’s another article from Inside Higher Ed…
with mostly large public U’s and some community colleges in the top 10

You’d think that people who used this “service” would have created an email that was only used for this.

I just hope that people on the list from countries that severely punish for “illicit sex” or homosexual relations are not harmed, but I fear that hopes will fail.

I’m thankful that none of the service academies made the list!

@mom2collegekids that is what I was thinking: notmyrealname@hotmail.com?

This is another list, which includes the Naval Academy and Military Academy.

Brown alumni do get an alumni email acct for as long as they want one. They’re always on the happiest student list; maybe that happiness is pervasive and students/faculty/staff aren’t searching for something on the side

Liberty U is pretty well represented…

The gist, if you read it, is that, assuming the data is correct and the analyzed tags have been functional, very few women have actually signed up and used the system. Like very, very, very few. And large numbers of the profiles were set up by Ashley Madison.

@fireandrain - Oh no!!!
Well, at least Navy was higher up on the list. LOL

Well, Lergnom, what else would one expect from such highly ethical place?

The Naval Academy and Military Academy are ranked higher than Yale!

This doesn’t take into account the size of each university. You all should remember that before jumping to conclusions.

What does that mean? Does that mean that they stole people’s names and email accts and created Ashley Madison accts??

^^No. The link in Lergnom’s post explains how that worked. Fakey-fakes, especially women.

There was a piece today on NPR about Ashley Madison. This guy decided to see if he was on the hacked list, and much to his surprise, he was. He insisted that he never created the account. He told his wife – she was interviewed in the story, too.

Turns out some other guy with a similar name used his email to open an account. The emails aren’t verified, so you could use any email you want. They tracked the real guy down – found him on Facebook or MySpace.

(I did find one of the places where you can search, and was glad to see my husband’s email wasn’t there.)

The whole thing sounds sleazy. I know a lot of people have affairs, but the numbers just seem unreal. 31 million men looking to cheat on their wives? And why did any of them stay there if it seems pretty evident that there were hardly enough women on there to make their dreams come true?

Do those universities w the most Ashley Madison accounts have the most cheaters? Or do they just have the dumbest cheaters?

We are amusing ourselves making any conclusions we feel like.

I think it’s a valid conclusion that anyone who uses their work email address for an adultery hookup website is dumber than a doorknob.
