Asian/black/hispanic female CCers do you find feminism sexist?

Ok, so there have been a bunch of articles recently about how girls are basically better than guys because of the college graduation gap and how soon women will outnumber men in the workforce. However, what I notice about all of these articles is that they mostly talk about and/or show Caucasian women while in fact Caucasian women are making the least strides in the education department. Its still about 50/50. Also, one main reason so many women go to college now is because as more and more asian families came to America in the 70s and 80s, almost all of their daughters attend college. The article said nothing of that. Also, african american and hispanic women outnumber men of the same race almost 2-1 and almost nothing is said about that either. So, just wondering, do you sometimes feel feminism is racist?

Note: I think most of the articles are made simply because most people that read those magazines are man-hating middle aged women so its probably just to increase their base market.

Yeah, because it’s not like white women had any role in the abolitionist and civil rights movements…

Women in general are the base market - primarily white women. Perhaps you’ve found your answer.

i don’t get how it’s racist, at worst it’s just that the editors don’t really care to fill a quota of stories about minorities

Also, whites make up 79% of the population… so obviously you’re gonna see more stuff about them since there’s so many of them/us.

We had a really interesting discussion about this in my Native American Women class a few weeks ago.

I think feminism and racial issues are two completely separate things, but they do tend to overlap a lot. When you put males and females up against one another by race, the women tend to out-graduate, out-perform, etc their male counterparts. But when you put up white women and against black women, Hispanic women, Native American women, etc- yeah, they tend to do worse. But that is a racial issue, not a feminist issue.

Feminism itself is not racist in the least. When females fight for female rights (right to choose, right to equal pay, etc) they are fighting for anyone with a vagina. They are not only fighting for white women.

So the answer to your question, IMO, is no.

ETA:
Also, I am a white Hispanic female.
