Asian Enrollment Rises in Harvard’s Class of 2030, Black Enrollment Falls for Third Straight Year

Has there been a discussion thread about this week’s headline? I would like to hear other parents perspectives.

To me, this outcome is not really surprising, but most reactions seem to fall into one of three camps:

  1. This will draw unwanted attention to Asian-Americans, and even foster hate.

  2. This clearly demonstrates elite schools had artificially depressed admission rates for Asian-American applicants prior to the 2023 SCOTUS decision, in the same way that Jewish college applicants faced discrimination in the first half of the 20th century before corrective measures were taken.

  3. This will cause elite universities like Harvard to lose their cachet as white students became even more of a minority percentage.
