Pretty interesting. I wish there were more of UChicago in the Hyde Park section though.

:)

What dorm would you want if you were accepted?

Dunno. Hate it when people care too much about dorms. :stuck_out_tongue:
And for the record, politics rock!

I can’t watch TV anymore, seriously. How about you?

I watch t.v. somewhat frequently. Probably 20 hrs. a week. sorry you can’t, that must suck.

this is response to your other post: I think you misunderstood my post. I understand that both Hilary and Obama are democrats.
I thought that UChi was mostly a mix, and that’s why I was asking why fndr was laughing about the question (and thanks for the response, that explains it :))
Hate is a strong word, and I wouldn’t use it for Hilary because I don’t /hate/ her, but I disagree with her on many of her principles and i would upset if she became president. I don’t think Obama is a savior, by any means, and I actually think he would have had a better shot at winning if he’d waited another round (don’t think he has enough experience). however, i’d hate to turn this into a political discussion.

what’s your least favorite thing to talk about?

Hm…probably sports.

In reponse to your response: Ah, OK, after reading my response I can’t believe I assumed you’d be that stupid. But, I bet dems at UCHI will be more likely to lean towards Obama. So, end of political discussion.

Unless…what politician, dead or alive, would you like to sleep with? yes, I am that immature

George Stephanopoulos, because he’s hot. Yes, I am that shallow :)

Are you waiting for any schools besides Chicago?

Nope. If Chicago accepts me I’m going there, if not it’s off to Wisconsin - Madison for me (Either way I’m happy, although I’d obviously much prefer Chicago :D)

I’m surprised you didn’t say somebody like John Edwards Meton :stuck_out_tongue: all the girls love that guy ^_^

Sauerkraut, do you like it? Sausage+Sauerkraut = win in my book

Something about cabbage makes me shudder.

How many hours of sleep do you usually get every night?

weekends 12, weekdays used to be 4 but since I got into U of R ED more like 7. (somehow my grades haven’t dropped. at all.)

ever read the picture of dorian grey? (oscar wilde)

Yes, I have. We actually just finished it in my Freudian/Jungian Literature class.

Have any siblings?

yes. a younger brother-- he’s in 9th grade. he waved hysterically at me in the hall the first day of school when he saw me, though ever since I asked him about it he just looks at me and mumbles a hello. kinda upsetting-- i broke his spirit… :(

and I kinda wanted to know what you thought of the book, not just if you had read it

so, comments on the picture of dorian grey?

I think Oscar Wilde is probably the greatest man ever to walk the earth, after Harold Bloom. One of my friends even gave me an Oscar Wilde action figure for my 17th birthday last year, haha.

It’s very tempting for me to go into Wilde rant mode but I’m going to resist (“I can resist everything except temptation”… hehe). I’ll just say that I really admire his wit, I love his books/plays, but at the same time there’s a very tragic element to his life (and I’m not even talking about the Bosie/prison thing… that part of his life is obviously tragic but I think more can be said for Wilde’s actual pre-breakdown life. I’d elaborate but chances are nobody would read what I have to say :))

Favorite book written by someone other than a dead, white man?

One Hundred Years of Solitude!!!

What you favorite spanish literary work?

umm… una carta a dios (we read it in spanish 5, and it’s basically about this farmer, Lencho, whose crops die and so he writes a letter to God. Then, a guy in the post office reads it, admires the guys faith, and manages to scrape together like 2/3 of the money Lencho asked for. In the end Lencho writes another letter to God in which he calls the post office guys theives, unknowing that the post office guy is the one who gave him the money in the first place)

awesome leyenda (like a legend/myth/story)

and I’d be more than happy to read your rant metonymy  for real

do you find it hard to belive that most christians belive that I, a Jew, am going to Hell irregardless of the fact that I’m an incredibly selfless person? (I confronted two of my christian friends who honestly believe when I die I am going to Hell for all of eternity. The one admits he cries about it [assembly of God], the other basically said that’s just the way things are [christian missionary alliance]) I try to be nonjudgemental in everything, so I’d like to hear feedback on this…

Yeah, I find that hard to believe.

Is it cold where you are right now?

nope, its 70 today!

Ski or snowboard?

Now it’s cold, but it got up to 75 today in south central PA-- I read out on the porch in my hammock :)

ok-- referring to my last post, explain the christian perception of Hell… (sorry to repeat, but I’d like a response from someone of my own age and intellectual capacity [assuming that you’re not more brilliant than I am])

edit: I do both, though I ski better than I snowboard

refer to the previous post for the question

Hell is other people.

Who said it first?

(Robotab: it’s not really a rant, per se, just a really long-winded explanation on my perception of Wilde-- one person with two personalities that I don’t think could have been compromised. If you really want to discuss, I will… haha how nerdy, in a good way though)

Those 2 christian boys are really stupid, because Jesus was a Jew. And I dont think that being Jewish or any other religion doesn’t send you to hell because that religion was probably pass down to you and plus god gave us the choice of free will, so if we have a different religion that doesnt mean that god loves you less. And also we all believe in the same God (Jews and Christian) it just the history of it on earth that we dont agree on. Probably those 2 christian kids are going to hell because if you ever read the parable of the good samaritian, none of the so called devouted people help the poor but only the so called “outcast” that did and because of that he was closer to God than the others. So NO i dont think you are going to hell.

I hate it when perfectly good threads get derailed by religiosity. Forget the haters!

Do you like milk or dark choc better?
