Well, I could; I am physically capable of doing so. But I posted it, so maybe I’ll just re-post it. :-)

Classical music: what is the first thing - music or thoughts on the genre - that pops into your head when you hear those words?

Classical music: what is the first thing - music or thoughts on the genre - that pops into your head when you hear those words?

Hindemith, Tchaikovsky (sp?), Sibelius…, Classic 99 FM

Can you speak another language fluently?

n-o

are you in a wheelie chair?

no…

Do you drink tea?

Yes

What is the first word that comes to mind when you see the word…

Bratislava?

Food. But no, I don’t know what it means.

Juice of choice?

I don’t drink juice anymore, as I have become quite the coffee addict. But, when I did… I would have to say cranberry.

The Iliad speaks much of Fate and its hold on mortals. What is your take on it? Does Fate exist in the first place? If so, should we simply live passively and let it come upon us? Or should we try to avoid the Fate to which we believe we are destined – or are destined? Should we blame every bad thing that happens to us on Fate? Or is there no such thing as Fate, and it was a figment of Oedipus’s and Hektor’s imaginations?

Ok, I’ve obvously been reading the Iliad too much. But maybe pick one question or something, and go for it! :-)

lol, hmmm. I don’t think fate exists. I think human beings choose to see conveniences as some preconceived act of providence (fate) because we would like to think we are just that important.

Have YOU read the Iliad in its original Greek?

Absolutely not.

Have you read Are You There God, its Me Margaret?

It was my favorite book around age 11.

Yep.

What’s your favorite picture book?

(Sushi- OMG that was totally my fave book around 11 as well. Judy Blume…sigh)

Umm, I’m sort of blanking on this question. lol, Arthur?

Have you ever had a surpise party?

yes i have. my 16th

have you ever drank alcohol as a minor? (careful! them internet cops are watching)

No, I’m pretty boring…well, only at communion.

Have you?

Imho, not having drank as a minor does not make you boring. To answer your question though, lets just say i have never been drunk

next book you plan to read?

The Proud Tower, Barbara Tuchman once I finish Hard Times

Have you ever heard of Kurosawa?

No but I am guessing from previous posts of yours and my bringing up the topic that they’re an author? You make me feel so poorly read…

BTW i am planning on reading “We” Yevgeny Samyatin. Have you read/heard of it? What did you think of it?

(lol, no, Kurasawa is a Japanese film director, he’s actually pretty well known in the film community. I highly recommend his films, with subtitles of course, his work is based on Dostoevsky’s works and themes…if you’ve ever read Crime and Punishment you should watch Red Beard. Although he only uses black and white his films have a surprising level of quality)

I have never read “We” and I have never heard of it. Now you’re making me feel poorly read…

Are you applying to University of Chicago?

Of course I am =)

Do you own/have you ever read any of the Great Books?

Uh, yes. Of course. My family owns the entire set of them, actually, though I prefer other translations of certain ancient texts. I tend to focus more on ancient Greek, so translations matter to me. That said, I have read some of the ones written in English, and I really don’t have a preference concerning Dostoevsky. (bendrumfront: I’m embarrassed to admit this a bit, but yes, I have read some of the Iliad - two books - in the original Homeric Greek. Yeah.)

Have you ever read How To Read a Book? If not, what do you think of when you hear of a book by that title? (Shh. It’s deceptive.)

No, I haven’t read that book.ANd how can a person who doesn’t know how to read a book , read “How to Read a book?”

Does anyone know what the book is about?
