Ask a USC student anything!

not that i’m relying on this…
but does the fact that
i did a summer program at USC
really help my admission chances?

i’m sure it helps because it means a/several university professors are familiar with you.

Except that most professors have no role in the admissions process. Networking-wise, I think you would only benefit if you got to know an admissions officer or director for the specific school to which you are applying.

Still, having the USC program on your transcript/resume can be a good boost. It shows an interest in the school, a familiarity with the campus, and a willingness to take on academic programs.

Did any upperclassman here sign up for a meal plan? I recall checking a box for Cardinal while filling out my housing application, but it hasn’t shown up on my billing balance. Any one else stuck, or should I just fill it out again on the USCard site?

^ oooh good question. I wanted to sign up for 50 meals per semester plan but I couldn’t find anything on the housing application…

actually would signing up for 50 meals per semester be MUCH cheaper than just paying every time I goto EVK/parkside? because if its not… i’ll just discresh it.

Yes, buying the Community 25 or 50 plan is a great savings over purchasing dining hall meals individually. The 50-meal is $540, which includes $100 in dining dollars. That means you are paying $440 for 50 meals, or $8.80 a meal. Compare this to the rates at Parkside Restaurant, where I believe it’s like $12 or $13 for dinner if you are paying with Discretionary funds or plain old cash.

So if you plan to use all 50 meals and would spend $100+ on campus snacks anyway, the community plans make sense.

Thanks, I got the community 25 plan yesterday. I can renew this anytime right?? ^^ I have a feeling I won’t be cooking as much as I want to T_T Thanks!

how hard is it to transfer from colege of letters arts and sciences into marshall?

A new question for you - Should the units earned through AP credits show on the STARS report on Oasis? Is there some other place they would show up? The College Board that the scores were sent to USC several weeks ago. Thanks.

Should the units earned through AP credits show on the STARS report on Oasis?

Yes, if it doesn’t there’s a problem. I hope you had your scores sent to them when you named a college you could send to for free. They have all 9 of my scores on there, and they only accept 8.

Yes the request was made when it was free.
Yes the College Board has confirmed on the phone that they were sent.
No, they aren’t on the report.
Heavy sigh.
Who do you suppose we should call to straighten it out?

That happened to me too - call articulation, or drop by (I know 3 years ago, it was on the 2nd floor of the registration building, dunno if they’re still there). It should just be a like 5 minute thing.

I’d never even heard of “articulation” but I see online that is exactly who we need to contact and they are still in Room 208 of the registration building. Thank you so much, that was really helpful.

Anyone here in Sigma Alpha Lambda or know anything about it? I get all these letters from different organizations that I’ve never heard of.

I got a lot of those too, but I ended up just joining the few that are well established honor societies in my majors (i.e. upsilon pi epsilon, eta kappa nu, tau beta pi). Probably for whatever major you’re in there’s an honors society of some kind that is fairly well respected, and I really don’t know about the others.

Usually there’s a sponsoring professor as well as an active student organization you can contact and see if it’s really something you’re into joining.

Damn, I just realized apartments don’t have bulletin boards. Does anyone know if the adhesive putty they gave us during freshman year stains the walls?

I’m taking macroeconomics in the fall w/ mooore. do I need to get both the macroecon textbook and the 2007 update macroecon textbook? or can i just get the 2007 updated one?

I am a rising senior interested in USC. I am going to do the Meet USC visit next week. I want to do accounting but it seems I cannot minor in accounting if I join the Marshall school? I want to prepare myself to take the CPA exam, what is the best path to take? Finance/Accounting is what I am looking for.

Thank you for this excellent service!

True, you cannot minor in Accounting if you are a Student in the Marshall School of Business. The Business major does require two accounting courses; however, the major in Accounting is specifically related to the field.

Based on your interests, you could major in Accounting and minor in Business or Mathematical Finance. You could also take additional Finance classes.

The Business Administration major includes course in accounting and finance.

I made my own thread for this question but I got no responses so maybe you can help me out. My high school only gives me my gpa weighted and its out of 100. On the part 1 applications for usc it asks for my unweighted gpa out of 4.0. What should I do?
