Ask a USC student anything!

Ask your counselor in high school how to calculate it. He or she should definitely know.

Can anyone suggest the best/easiest WRIT 140 teacher? English is not my strongest point.

I heard comments that there is really no alternatives for writing.

they didn’t ask whether they had to take it, they asked which was the best teacher.

IMO, it’s really just luck. Most people can’t really say who is the best since they only take one class, and I’m assuming they are run by mostly grad students (well mine is at least) meaning they change all the time- it’s really the luck of the draw.

For the GPA, you should contact USC and see how they want it recorded.

WRIT 140 varies from class to class. Different WRIT 140 courses accompany different Social Issues courses. All WRIT 140 classes basically require the same amount of work, but the Social Issues classes often vary.

what’s a good writing 340 to take?

There are so many relative to different majors. I hear that WRIT 340 for the arts is hard. Writing 340 for Business would be applicable to many majors and careers.

a GPA question. let’s say i have 18 units. (four regular 4 unit courses + an easy 2 unit course). I get in the regular classes… B, B+, B+, A- and in the easy 2uniter I get a solid A…what’s my cumulative GPA? How would you add it up? (3+3.3+3.3+3.7 + ? )/ ?

weight each course GPA by the number of units, so it’s 43 + 43.3 + 43.3 + 43.7 + 2*4.0 divided by 18, or 3.4

I have a rather specific question: For majors in the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention program, do they take courses directly from the Keck School of Medicine? Just thought that it’d be pretty cool to take college-level courses in Med. school.

Do I pay mroe tuition if I go over 16 credits?

only if you go over 18 units

I don’t know anything about health majors, sorry

You pay for 18 units. Most classes are 4 units, meaning you can take four 4 unit classes and one 2 unit class. If you take five 4 unit classes, you will have to pay for the extra 2 units.

For dorms, do we need additional devices other than an HD TV to watch national TV stations in HD?

You will need an HD antenna. For the foreseeable future, the cable service in all USC housing is going to remain standard analog service via coaxial jack.

However, I believe most “over-the-air” stations in Los Angeles (such as KABC, KCBS and KNBC) simulcast in HD, so you would just need to switch between the USC cable input and your external HD antenna to watch those.

Discover USC is this Sunday! It’s a great way to see the campus and actually meet with admissions reps from the various schools at USC!!

we didn’t need an antenna for hd tv. for abc and stuff, it says something like channel 7, channel 7-2 (hd), channel 7-3 (hd), channel 8, etc.

Proudtrojan, was USC your first choice school? Where else did you apply?

SJW- How was your television set up? I’m fairly certain there is no HD content on USC cable service. Were you just picking up over-the-air stations and the signals were strong enough you didn’'t need an antenna?

I’m not really sure… we got a new suitemate mid semester, so she ended up putting her tv in the living room area, and we just get those channels, there’s no antenna or anything. so maybe the signal was just strong? i really know nothing about this sort of thing :)
