why did you choose USC over UCLA?

how can i hook up my playstation 3 (ps3) online?

either wired or wireless internet connection, doesn’t matter

To chelsea2009: For me it was two (main) things that drew me to choose USC over UCLA and UCB. The Thematic Option sounded great (and it has turned out to be even better than I anticipated), and the merit scholarships USC offered me. UCLA and UCB both had wonderful points as well, and it was a very difficult decision. My decision was right for me, but it might not be right for you. If at all possible, visit all of your options, talk to students, go to a class, wander the campus, investigate the school’s website, and choose the right place for you. Good luck!

Many thanks to current USC students, alums and parents for your time to help!

I wonder if students who successfully transferred to USC this year could address the following questions:

What are the best merit-based scholarships and how much awarded to transfer students by USC?

When you applied to a particular school in USC such as Marshall or Annenberg, who makes the admissions decisions? i.e., does the USC admissions office make decisions alone, or, the school that you are applying to makes the ultimate decision for acceptance or rejection?

Are transfer admissions results predictable? Do you know any strong transfer applicant who was unexpectedly rejected? I mean someone who with high stats, decent essays, good ECs and nice teacher recommendations failed to get in. What could be the reasons for such a surprise rejection?

Thank you very much again!

USC Neuroscience recommendations, please.
How big the program is?
How difficult it is to gain admission to?
How well it prepares one for graduate school?

Thanks.

Hello, im planning to attend the school or architecture in USC, currently its the place i do want to go, but iam waitlisted in other unis as well. Any advice from previous/current architecture students that would help in making USC THE place to go, would be much appreciated,
Thanks.

got accepted at Pepperdine with deans scholarship of 22k and USC as a spring admit with only 4k in grants. USC is my first choice but i feel terribly guilty puttting my parents in a hole of debt because of the huge diff in $$$… Parents want me to decide and are incredibily supportive as to which decision I choose… I need help!!! Majoring in International relations at CLAS at USC

You might call USC & explain the situation, asking them if they can increase their merit aid to help make the decision easier, with closer financial choices. They are sometimes about to make some adjustments–the sooner the better. It’s best if you call your particular school or admissions counselor for USC. Good luck!

Do you like Pepperdine? It is hard to give the right feedback because it really depends upon your parents’ financial situation. 4k in grants is not much and at 54k expected cost next year, you are talking about 200k for USC vs. approximately 120k for Pepperdine.
Did you apply to any of the UCs? The only way I can really back up going to USC is if your parents/grandparents find it easy to spend the 200k, OR you enter with 32 AP/Community College credits and can graduate in 3 years, OR you can live at home and just pay tuition at USC.

Hi guys
Can anyone tell me a good source for reasonably priced used books? The book store doesn’t sound like the best option.
Incoming freshman to interactive media/computer science

Try using: [BookFinder.com: Search for New & Used Books, Textbooks, Out-of-Print and Rare Books](http://www.bookfinder.com/)

Click advanced options and search by ISBN if you can. I’ve found the lowest prices there.

If you can, buy the international edition. Its the same exact book, just with a different cover at usually half the price or less.

[screwthemiddleman.com - Never Get Cheated.](http://screwthemiddleman.com/)

Thank you so much!! I really appreciate the info.

One other question…We know the University has a list of what to bring to college, but is there a thread or list of what students recommend you bring with you.
Being we are coming from MN. We need to figure things out before leaving.
Thanks again

so…many…questions… -_-

There are lots of great stores at USC. When we flew from HNL to LA, we brought the clothing our kids wanted/needed. We also bought a few office supplies for the desk/dorm. We also had purchased bedding (twin XL), so we washed & brought that along. Pretty much the rest we purchased in LA. They have Target, Ikea, Costco and many other places to choose among. They also have a Dollar Store about 5-10 minutes walk from campus. We purchased a fan from S (no A/C in his dorm) but none for D (her dorm as A/C). S & D both have pretty much all they need now.

Thank you for the tips. I had read that the XL Twins don’t always work in the dorms? I also read that you want to have an egg crate topper as the “mattresses” are not to good.
What is you feed back on this?

Thank you

Pookoz

My kids have had no complaints with the XL twin bedding I purchased on-line for them for use in the dorm. Neither used an egg crate topper, so I’d hold off & only get it if you decide you really want one. Those foam toppers can be hot & it’s already warm enough in LA without adding heat.
When I attended college back in the day, I only knew one person who used the foam egg crate topper.

My s has the eggcrate topper and he has no complaint. The mattress is a bit thin so it’s up to you what you prefer.
You need XL twin bedsheets for the mattresses at USC (I’m not sure what you mean by they don’t always work in the dorms).

Thanks.

I was just reading through some old threads and there was chatter about the beds being skinny and the sheets were not working?? Maybe this has been resolved??

Thank you
