Humpty bumpy

What are some your favorite things to do off campus?

I’m not exactly sure what the board rules are regarding the elephant in the room regarding this question…

But some other stuff to do is going laser-tagging, bowling, the movies, hiking/biking, camping, skiing, and going out to eat in the trillions of good restaurants. I’m sure there’s stuff I’m forgetting, I haven’t been out there in a while.

My D got accepted to school of nursing. Curious if incoming freshman are required to have Mac’s or PC’s?

I doubt they’d require one over the other (don’t know though). They should tell you at her FTCAP day if it’s necessary.

@bwnblkyel … my daughter is a sophomore in the penn state nursing program … either PC or Mac is fine.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you know that I’ll be leaving for my study abroad program in a day or so, so I won’t be able to answer your questions until April-ish when I get back.

I urge everyone to keep asking questions, though, because there are very knowledgeable people here. Also, if you’re one of those knowledgeable people don’t hesitate to answer questions here to keep this thread alive while I’m gone.

Hey I had another question for anyone attending. If you’re majoring in something in Arts and Sciences like International Relations or Poli Sci, how many math classes would you need to take? And have fun abroad Duke!

@andybatts, I’m not attending but i know you can get information as to what classes everyone has to take here:
[University Bulletin: Undergraduate Degree Programs](Undergraduate Bulletin | Penn State)

under general education. Click on program structure to get a basic outline.

AND information regarding your specific major by clicking on whatever college you’re planning on attending (for instance, Eberly College of Science) and then the major you are interested in, which will be on the left hand side. This is also on the link I gave you.

I know it’s a pain because they only list the course code (ex: MATH 221), but then you just plug that into the right hand search box (it’s blue and says “Course Info”) to get its name and information.

Hi,
How much is the tuition for the first year at Penn State Erie Campus, I just want to know the tuition, dont tell me to check the website cause i tried and it is so confusing…the calculator is not helpful at all…just tell me the amount please(DUS or business major, non-state) and how much would my cost of living(per year) be if I live off-campus and share rooms with frens?

thanks alot!!!

This year’s out of state tuition for a freshman at Erie campus is 19,548
http://tuition.psu.edu/tuitiondynamic/rates.aspx?location=aa_bk_bd_cl#aa_bk_bd_cl-NonPA

housing for a standard double is 2,385/semester
[Housing: Room and Board Rates: Fall 2011/ Spring 2012](<a href=“Home Page | LiveOn”>Home Page | LiveOn)

dining plans range from 1840-2325 per semester
<a href=“Home Page | LiveOn”>Home Page | LiveOn;

rates for next year aren’t known yet- I believe they are determined in the summer after the state budget is finalized.

Tuition and fees are usually announced in July, after the state budget is done and before the fall term bills go out in August. And I am guessing that PSU Behrend, like UP, does not allow freshmen to live off campus at all. But congrats! Behrend is a fabulous school!!

When do decisions come out for those who applied after the priority deadline? I turned in my application before the priority deadline but submitted the payment and my scores after it.

Is getting admitted into one of Penn State’s branch campus – Erie campus hard? What sort of grades do I need? Are they very selective? I’m planning to apply for the 2+2 program. I was thinking of applying under DUS before transferring to my intended major (Finance). Does applying under DUS help my chances in anyway?

THANKS!!!

Is it possible to get a single dorm your freshman year?

I got in to Penn State University Park in the college of engineering for summer session!
gpa: 3.81 w
sats: 580 math, 520 critical reading, and 500 writing.
I took a lot of competitive courses in high school and i wrote an essay with a strong meaning.
Thanks Duke!

The only way you would be assigned a single as a freshman is if you have some medical reason to request one. Otherwise, its a double, or “small double” or supplemental housing. If you know you are coming to PSU, accept your housing contract sooner rather than later, in order to avoid supplemental. Changes to the contract can be made right until May, you won’t find out your assignment (usually) until Julyish.

My friend got a single dorm freshman year, and she is in the honors college. So idk if you could only get it for the honors college

I got admitted to Penn State but they said that because of the class size I have to begin in other campus (Erie, the behrend school). This is good? I dont know because I’m an international student. Plus, is it hard to transfer to the main campus?? ty!

Erie, the behrend school is great! I would try to do a virtual tour first. You are guaranteed a transfer to univ park after 2 years.
