Asking for a last minute recommendation

I just found out about the Bank of America Student Leaders program last night and I’m interested in participating. The deadline is February 20th and I need a recommendation letter from a teacher, school administrator, or counselor. I have a long holiday weekend and I don’t go back to school until Wednesday, only two days before the deadline. It’s short notice, but I’m going to email my guidance counselor today and ask for a recommendation hoping that she sees it this weekend and can write me one. I’ve never asked for a recommendation before. How do I go about asking for one, especially a last minute one?

Try going to one of your club advisors…preferably one that you are really involved in so he/she can rave about how good of a leader you are.
I thought it would be difficult to ask a teacher as well. But it’s really not. Just go “I’m looking at this summmer program _____ and I would like to apply. Can you write me a recommendation please?” And then give that teacher your resume and directions about the recommendation requirements and also print out the website info about that program.
Good luck.
