Asking for application extension?

So I think I’m in a lot of trouble here and I could really use some advice. Over Christmas break, I learned that a college I was applying to had an application deadline that was closer than I thought ( I was thinking it was on Jan. 15, but really it was Jan. 2). I couldn’t get in touch with my guidance counselor over break to ask her to send my transcripts and everything, so, even though it was my second choice, I decided not to apply because none of my documents would be in by the deadline. Fast forward to Jan. 2, and I learn that the college had extended their deadline to Jan. 10, aka today. After hearing about this I decided to apply again, and I turned in all the forms I needed to on Jan. 3, giving me a week to get everything hopefully to the college by Jan. 10. While the college got one of my documents, the other two are still on their way due to the bad weather. Do you guys think I should email the college and ask for an extension due to the weather, or would that be a complete waste of time?

What things are you waiting for to arrive? If you sent it all off on the 3rd then it should have been there on time, and I suspect you aren’t the first person ever to have a problem with delivery and stuff. I would email them and explain the situation, and they’ll probably say it’s fine. I had problems with a teacher recommendation being over a week late to be submitted and all of my colleges were cool with it, they understand that sometimes things encounter problems. Good luck!

If your application is submitted by the deadline, that’s enough. I don’t think you need to ask for an extension. If you are nervous, you can email them and explain the other documents have been requested and should arrive soon. But really, you’re fine.

@college_query is right–do not let official documents stop you from submitting on time. SUBMIT YOUR PART ON TIME!

@marvin100 @college_query @greenstudent thanks for the advice everyone! I went ahead an emailed the admissions officer and explained what happened, so hopefully they’ll accept everything that’s late.I definitely feel a lot better about it now
