Missypie, I have never met someone in my life with average intelligence who is simply unemployable, baring drug, anger management, or past felony history.

I have worked with stinky people with poor hygene. I have worked with people who refuse to make eye contact. I have worked with people who have no executive function abilities. I have worked with people who have terrible time management.

A good friend of mine suffers from a very serious mental health condition. It causes him significant heartache, and he fits perfectly what you’re describing as “unemployable.” Yet, it is important to him that he works, and he has found an employer where he fits well, and he’s been employed for several years.

So no, I don’t think that you can label someone as “unemployable” because of hygene issues or lack of eye contact.

You can, however, label someone unemployable if they fail to show up to work. That is the one quality that generally leads quickly to termination.
