Circuit Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina sentenced ex-Team USA doctor Larry Nassar up to 175 years in prison for sexual assault. She read excerpts from a letter Nassar had sent the court after his guilty plea:
After reading the excerpts, the judge tossed the letter aside.
That pig thinks we hate him and what he did because of child porn?! The 150 victim statements were not about child porn. I didn’t even know that monster was also accused of child porn.
Yes, he had already been given 60 years from the feds for child pornography. Since the sexual assault charges are in a state court, I guess they have to be consecutive. Not that it should matter - he’s in for life. But I wonder which prison he’ll be sent to? Federal or state?
Yes! He thinks it’s no problem that he says his staffer “invited” him to tell her he loved her, write a cringeworthy love letter, hug her for too long, then start getting hostile when she showed that she continued not to be interested in his advances. She “invited” him by being polite and normally friendly, like anyone would be to their boss.
He thinks it’s no problem that he shared his unwanted, unsolicited feelings with her so that the two of them could solve “their” problem of his unwanted romantic fixation on her. By the way, Meehan is married, and apparently intended to continue to be married while he pestered her with his romantic attentions.
He claims that his hush money was a “severance” payment. Funnily enough, Congressional staffers who don’t say they were harassed by their bosses don’t get severance payments when they leave their job.
What I want to know is why there is anyone still left at USA Gymnastics. This is an organization that required children, who were away at required gymnastic camps without their parents, to submit to “treatment” in their hotel rooms at night. Required. The girls could not see their own coaches, doctors or trainers instead; they had to see Nassar, alone in their hotel rooms or dorm rooms at night.
Why was there no one with an IQ great than 7, who realized that this was improper and should have been stopped? Who other than a pedophile would think this was a good idea? Especially after there were complaints? Heads should roll. A lot of heads should roll.
I can make little sense of the Pat Meehan saga and really do not understand why he thinks all these public statements are helping matters.
Where does his wife figure into all of this? By releasing that letter he has just publicly proclaimed that another woman is his soul mate and he is “comforted” that there is more to come for the two of them. And what does “you’ve been a complete partner to me in every way” mean to most people? To me that extends beyond a hug that lasted a bit longer than it should. I just cannot imagine how his wife is feeling right now.
Unless they have some sort of arrangement or this is his way of requesting a divorce I just can’t figure out what he is thinking. He is publicly humiliating his wife.
“It’s now a question of whether he resigns or declares this to be his last term, according to interviews with a half-dozen party officials and insiders.” So looks like he has humiliated his wife to no purpose. I doubt if his wife, or anyone else, believes his relationship with the staffer would have remained platonic if she returned his affections. I certainly don’t think so.
The US Olympic Committee says the entire board of directors of USA Gymnastics has to resign, or USOC will decertify them as the governing body for gymnastics in the US. Every member of the new board has to go through SafeSport training and ethics training in the next three months, and ethics training in the next six months. I don’t know exactly what SafeSport training is, but I’m guessing they tell you not to let “doctors” and “trainers” see children alone in their hotel/dorm rooms at night, because duh.
Also USA Gymnastics has to cooperate in the investigation of exactly who knew or should have known about athlete reports of abuse.
