Assault ... raises questions about police response

There was an officer at the top of the stairs looking right at the assault as it happened. They are lying when they say none of them saw it happen. You can see him watching from one of the videos (the one shot from further away from it).

@FilmerMom - “Except the guy ended up on the ground not from the punch, but from the cops pushing him to the ground” which is exactly what I said in my post.

Your post implied that the puncher was arrested immediately. He was not arrested until much later when the videos were posted and questions raised about why he hadn’t been arrested.

inparent - my post said everything I understood to be true based on watching with no audio. I was just pointing out that the earlier “correction” to my post was something that I actually had posted.

Looks like the reporter Michelle Fields just filed charges against Corey Lewandowski his campaign manager as well. She tweeted out a picture of her bruised arm after Lewandowski allegedly manhandled her and violently pulled her away as she was asking T a question at a press conference in Florida. Apparently he did not like the question.

So we’re OK with victims being pushed to the ground by cops before any type of even basic investigation? (Nevermind the fact that other angles showed that indeed at least one cop saw the whole thing.)

That’s not an America I want to live in, but to each their own I guess.

^^who said that?
Which “WE” are you referring to?

So far only one “we” on this thread, I think.

Sorry, I was using “we” as opposed to calling someone out. (As I’ve been warned about before).

I should’ve worded that better, my apologies. I wasn’t referring to multiple people on this thread.

I’m watching the current protests in Chicago so a bit distracted (and brain foggy).

And… they just cancelled the rally in Chicago. Will that encourage protesters at future rallies? Will it be possible to HAVE a rally without violent confrontations or a huge police presence? I thought rallies couldn’t get a lot uglier than some that happened in 2008… but I guess I was wrong. :frowning:

“So far only one ‘we’ on this thread, I think.”

Two.

And yet, these violent clashes aren’t happening at most candidates’ rallies.

I often thought they were going to break out in 2008 at some rallies – but it was a lot of verbal sparring, minimal if any physical violence. It has gone over the line this year… :frowning:

Watching that unfold on CNN I was thinking that this is just a global embarrassment. What have we been reduced to?

and it happened again today…

This level of violence at events happens because this is what the speaker attracts, provokes and condones.

There is a sub-culture represented that previously has not been present at rallies, or if it has, hasn’t been provoked into action by other speakers.

It is clear that the speaker is a violent narcissistic personality of the worst kind.

32 people were arrested in St. Louis at a rally. One was charged with assault, 31 were charged with disturbing the peace. I wonder how many from each side? Or will they all be from one side?

At the St Louis rally earlier in the day the speaker was yelling to the protesters to " go home to mommy" and " go home and get a job because they contribute nothing."

The speaker had the crowds in Chhicago whipped into a frenzy before he even arrived. No wonder it was cancelled.

Regarding the assault in No.Carolina, even the sheriff, stated that the assault was cowardly and unprovoked.

The assault happened as the protester was being led out of the event, up the stairs, by the police. That’s when the protester was hit by a man who crossed in front of two others in his row to get to him and then hit him.

When the speaker yells a comment like " In the old days theyd be carried out on a stretcher" and " I want to punch him in the face" at different earlier gatherings that speaker in my view is calling for these actions to take place.

In my world that’s inciting violence. When is that not illegal?

Will the St. Louis rally be the last? Lets hope so.
