Assertive vs. passive in essays...

Just wondering if you think its a good idea (or what did you do in your essays) to be assertive such as… “when I get to your school, I will do this this and this” vs. “if you choose to accept me at your school…” in your essays.

All I know is I did the whole passive thing for freshman admissions and it didn’t seem to work too well… please give me your input!

I’m putting “if admitted i plan to…”. Yes, be assertive. You’re fighting for a spot, and the more interested you look it might just put you over the edge.

colleges want to see that you fit… so just pretend you’re in when writing your essays

Verb always beats adjective. Be agressive.

so would it be better to say “as a student i would…”? and just leave out the if?

be assertive all the way…show “subtle” passiveness…im pretty sure they want to admit strong and confident students. besides…using passive tone makes it too wordy and annoying.
