I just got assigned to the Holiday Inn Brookline for the fall semester. Does anybody know anything about it and how far it is from campus? And, are rooms in the Holiday Inn usually bigger than standard dorms? Any input would be appreciated!

Rooms are not particularly large but if it’s a double, it would be larger than most dorm rooms. You can walk straight to it from Comm Ave along St. Paul and it’s maybe 10 minutes. It’s on the C branch of the Green Line - Beacon and St. Paul - which connects to the B branch that runs on Comm Ave back at Kenmore (free to transfer). There’s a small pool. Bathroom in the room of course. Lots of greenery indoors - the hotel is one big atrium filled with plants. There’s a bar. And a function room in the basement. The hotel has two parts. The old 2 story part was renovated and a new, taller brick part added at the corner. The brick part is nicer but the old part has the big atrium. The neighborhood is Coolidge Corner, which is Brookline’s main shopping district. Lots of restaurants, shopping. You can also walk a few blocks to Carlton and St. Mary, where there are more shops and restaurants. On St. Mary’s, it’s a short walk to Marsh Chapel. Very safe, upscale neighborhood.

in the photos section, u can choose the “guest rooms” category. i’m not sure if that’s the type of room you’ll be getting though. the one pictured looks like it’s from some sorta suite, not a regular double. your room will definitely be bigger than a standard double dorm room though. just think of a regular hotel room with a private bathroom.

the distance from central campus is about the same as from west campus. the biggest difference is that the C subway line doesnt run through BU. so after your classes are done, you’ll have to walk a few blocks south to get to the St. Mary’s green C line stop, where u can board a free outbound train. the train will go to Hawes Street, Kent Street, and then St. Paul Street (and then lots of other stops after that, but u don’t need those, unless you’re just exploring). Holiday Inn is in between kent and st. paul… so u can get off at either. you’ll learn which one is closer.
