Assigning Teacher Recs

Is it possible to assign/change teachers AFTER submitting the common app?

No. Your teachers can send in your letters after you submit your Common App, as long as it is before the school’s deadline. However, you cannot change your assignments. All you can do is resend their invitation.

From Common App:

“Once a recommender has been added and invited, the name and title you entered cannot be changed by the applicant. Please ask your recommender to follow the link in the invite and log into the online recommendation. Once the recommender has logged in, he/she is able to update the information by clicking the gear icon at the top right of the page. The updates will be reflected on the application.”

“All of the recommendations should be submitted or postmarked by the deadline date. However, some schools may be more lenient with school officials. You should contact the school to see if they accept recommendations later than the stated deadline.”

Thanks; but on the common app site, someone asked “Can I still assign recommenders after submitting my application?”, to which the answer was “Yes! You may still assign a recommender to your colleges after the recommendation or application has been submitted. As soon as a teacher submits a recommendation, it is sent to any colleges to which you have has assigned the recommender.”

That said, the answer had 2/5 stars (haha)

@macburl Oh I’m sorry, I hadn’t seen that. It seems rather contradictory. Do they have a number or something that you can call tomorrow morning?
