Assist.org and extra classes

Hi, I have a question really quick. Can you take extra classes outside of Assist.org for interest? Would they affect admission evaluation?
Thanks.

You can and it shouldn’t affect you as long as they don’t have transferable units which they shouldn’t. Also if you are just talking about the classes listed for your major you will have to take other classes that fulfill your breadth.

It shouldn’t affect you and in fact that’s a good idea if you don’t want to have so many transferable units like 70+.

Having more than 70 semester units (= 105 quarter units) all from CCs should not be a problem, although after transfer, you will be considered as a student with 70 semester units. However, if you have any credit from four year schools, check for unit limits that may apply and may disqualify you from admission if you have too many units.

Additional courses, if transferable, will affect your GPA, of course. They may also give subject credit that can fulfill additional prerequisites outside of your major if you want to take advanced courses outside of your major after transfer. If they fulfill breadth requirements, they can be helpful in that respect.

<a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors; describes the policy on transfer students with large numbers of units. Note that the 70 semester unit cap is applied to non-UC lower division units (including all CC units as well as AP and IB units) before considering whether a student may have too many units to be admitted.

Hey ucbalumnus, I was wondering who gets to choose which classes transfer over if I have more than 70+ U.C transferable courses? I’m assuming that the U.C does, but it saddens me that they can choose classes that I have a B over an A. I guess it won’t matter though since your GPA resets when you transfer.

^ all the courses ‘transfer’ if they are UC transferable. You will get subject credit that can fulfill pre-req or other requirements but the units themselves will be capped at 70.

ok thanks for all the replies :)
