What kind of jobs would I qualify for with an Associates degree in General Studies with a concentration in Applied and Natural Sciences?
moderator note: Per OP’s previous posts and conversations: He also has Bachelor of Science in General Business Administration and a Certificate of Technical Studies in Human Resource Management.
Closing temporarily for review
I think mostly same as HS diploma… One of my kids got Associate in CS and was hoping to get some employment while working on BS. 0 options. Some local governments can consider Associate for employment. Some school systems will take people with Associate as substitutes. I would just transfer and get your Bachelor…
Talk to the CC and see where people have been placed before.
Many jobs only require a HS diploma or some others an associate.
Perhaps you can get an internship somehwere to start.
I did two internships that I put together on my own after college. I am looking to do at least one more intersnhip with a well known company this time. I was told I would have to be enrolled in school to do so. I do not have a desire to return to school.
I do have a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. I also have a Certificate of Technical Studies in Human Resource Management. I just recently got my Associate’s in General Studies with a concentration in Applied and Natural Sciences.
So apply for jobs. Set up an indeed feed. Associates degree + science. Each day it will send you jobs. You can always get a retail gig in the meantime.
Oh, you have a bachelor. So use that to find something with or without hr.
Why the associates ?
I think you posted b4.
Good luck.
I got the associates because I had some extra credits. I had all the classes I needed to graduate.
I have been applying for jobs via Indeed. I get emails turning me down or they do not respond at all. I have been told that I need more experience. I have been told that a college degree is just a piece of paper without experience.
Don’t be told. Take action. Your four year school has career fairs. Go. Talk to profs about contacts. Reach out to leaders of companies of interest and ask for 30 mins to learn about what they do and ask for guidance.
HR is a tough field today. Jobs are being cut. HR has long been on the downside. There’s a lot of contractors, and outsourcing. Today many HR folks do statistical type analysis.
You’ve had multiple internships. You are certainly qualified for a position.
Have your college career office review yiur rese, put you through mock interviews.
In the meantime, look at retail stores - big box trainee programs, luxury gas stations like QT, Buccees, whoever is near you.
Car dealers.
Small, local businesses.
You need confidence and hustle. It’s nonsense your degree is worth nothing. You have experience too.
I don’t know where you live. There’s more thann1k jobs on indeed in 7 days for entry level HR. Most won’t be real but there are jobs. They may not fit your desire but you need to hustle and have confidence.
