Astronautical engineering

What do you guys think about UW Madison’s engineering mechanics degree with an option in astronautics?
Would it be better to go to a school with an aerospace engineering program?

Keep in mind that you don’t need an aerospace degree to work in the aerospace industry. Don’t let that limit your options.

^ Agreed. Aerospace companies hire tons of Mech Es (and EEs). Just take a look at the different courses offered to see if you like the mix.

It is better to just take Mechanical Engineering so you have broader options in the field just in case you change your mind and want to work in manufacturing or automobiles or if the industry falls flat.

look and see if their are any clubs for kids with interest in aeronautical engineering. Getting involved in student projects is very helpful in landing internships, and internships are a key way to stand out when graduating. You should also look at what companies recruit on campus for internships and full-time jobs.
