At least the Al Jazeera headline is “Americans raise $600000 to rebuild burned Texas mosque” which says something good about us.
sounds like it is probably an intra Islamic thing. shooters screamed Allah Akbar and the first one arrested is from morocco.
like a shiite/sunni situation in which millions have been killed on both sides over the ages (normally not in Canada) in a battle for supremacy.
there is also a lot of internal strife amongst sunnis and shiites separate from the violence between the two sides.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.
I just read that the police are now saying that they have ONE suspect in custody and the other was just a witness.
So so sad. 
This is why it’s wise not to speculate. The lone suspect is French-Canadian, Alexandre Bissonnette.
And the other person that was named was a VICTIM not a suspect.
Alexandre, the suspect, is a white nationalist.
This is why I DESPISE speculation.
Can you please show where is was a victim? Everything I read says he was a WITNESS he was there when the assault took place but he wasn’t actually shot himself.
I don’t know which is more concerning to me, this terrible tragedy, or that some of you seem relieved it was a white person who committed the crime…
I don’t think it’s so much that people are “relieved” that it was a white nationalist, but rather that they are pointing out a pretty common occurrence here in the US: our proclivity to jump to conclusions and assume that the criminal was a Muslim, and therefore hate crimes are a problem of the past (they aren’t), and therefore the US has evolved past silently (and sometimes not so silently, case in point) discriminating against people based on their religion (we haven’t).
I hate to point this out, but this tragedy took place in French speaking Canada, not the US.
Who’s relieved? I feel no relief, just tremendous sadness. And I made the comment about how jumping to conclusions is unwise when I saw the ‘intra-Islamic’ speculation that you and zobroward were engaging in.
Zin, it is correct that the events took place in Quebec, but the comment refers to the posters who I assume are mostly US residents.
I don’t think anyone is relieved it is a white person who did this, I think people were pointing out that people automatically jump the gun and claimed this was muslims responsible, that it was an ‘intra muslim’ feud. What it points out is that there are a lot more haters out in the world then muslims, and that what this may point out (note the word may) is that this assumption is dangerous because it is this kind of view of Muslims that leads to things like this shooter, or towns refusing to allow a mosque or other Muslim centers to be built, simply on the grounds that they think Muslims are all radicals out to Islamicize them (there are a lot of non Muslim religious groups, if that is the case, that should be targeted the same way, since they proslytize and support law that follows their religious belief, if we are going to use that logic, and obviously the logic itself is stupid, we should apply it fairly).
This is why people blurting out stuff without thinking, whether it is politicians on social media, or private citizens, is so dangerous, it is very easy to say “oh, they are just venting, it doesn’t mean anything”, but when it becomes not one person ranting but a bunch of people doing this, it turns into something much more dark. History has taught us this, we can laugh today at “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” and the anti semitism it helped spread, or at the racist stereotypes of other groups like blacks or Asians, but those stereotypes didn’t drop from the sky, they started with the people who wrote them or passed them on, back then in pamphlets and books and broadsides and whispers, then radio and today the tv and internet, and once upon a time any number of ranters were considered “nutjobs”, until they were taken seriously.
