Does anyone have any experience with these people? Are they worthwhile? I was contacted by one the other day and can’t figure out if its worth signing on or not. I guess from what I’ve heard some are more scrupulous than others? Any feedback would be most appreciated.

Here’s my thought (we never used one, were solicited by a lot)–stay away from them. But do your research. I recently noticed a recruited Stanford athlete had signed up with one of them; although I don’t know if she needed their help, it obviously didn’t hurt her.

Ask coaches, other athletes, parents about the particular service. A lot of them are no good and/or ignored by college coaches, and/or ridiculously expensive, but there may be some that are good. For example, there is a group in Washington D.C. that does college recruiting consulting that I think is top-notch, but it’s the only one I would consider (in the sport I know about).

I would look for documented success and follow up on the claims.
