My daughter is planning on cheering for football as a part of her Yale experience and we are local so we would love to go to the games. Are the reserved seats worth twice the price or is general admission better? What parking lot is better to buy into? We would also be able to travel to other schools but it seems the closer ones to us (Harvard and Brown) are coming to Yale this year. Has anyone else done this?
The Yale Bowl is pretty big. I don’t know where the reserved seats vs. the general admission seats are, but you should look at a chart. If you mean that your daughter is planning to be a cheerleader, if you want to see her as more than a tiny ant, you don’t want to be sitting at the end of the Bowl.
That is a good point- The reserved seats are on the sides and the gen admin is on the ends. I think that maybe the reserved would be the best to watch her cheer and watch the games. It was just that the cost is double for the reserved. For the same money we could buy 4 gen admin and bring two of her friends or her brothers. I just didn’t know how bad the Gen admin were or if it was more fun to be with the students over being with the higher priced seats. All in all we have watched her cheer for 12 years so seeing her as an ant would not really bug us as much as missing her experience it in general.
The students aren’t in the general admission seats–they are in student sections on the sides. The ends are pretty empty for most games. I think you’ll have a lot more fun on the sides–near the band, near the students, able to see the cheerleaders.
Note: everything is different for the Harvard-Yale game.
I just looked at the chart. I think what you really want is Premium West, if possible–you want to be on the Yale side, for sure. General admission is really pretty far toward the end.
That is EXACTLY what I needed to hear! Thanks!
And buy your tickets for the Harvard game really early.
I bought two season passes reserved. It kept telling me that there were no seats left on the Yale side. I happened to hit refresh and all of a sudden there were two in section 16 but it was also trying to charge for the two seats on the other side. A few other attempts of clearing out and refreshing worked and we landed on our two seats. Huzzah! We are all set for my husband and I to go and it includes the Harvard game. We will use the two free passes for her friends. Our seats are perfect for where she should be too. Thanks for the help.
