Att: Admissions Officers....Business/Finance Academy

Hello,

This question is for anyone who has knowledge …but especially if there is any COLLEGE ADMISSION PERSONNEL in this forum.

I have a rising senior. She is selecting classes for next year. Currently, she is in public high school under a BUSINESS ACADEMY program. She joined his sophomore year in HS when the program began. They must take business related electives, maintain a certain GPA in order to stay in the program. They graduate with the public school diploma and a “BUSINESS ACADEMY”. They have to participate in an one day a week internship outside the school related to their major.
My question is are his class selections strong enough to be accepted to a “good” college for a business/finance program.

English IV,
Calculus
AP Microeconomics
Intro to Finance
Intro to Accounting
Physical Education

She had a AP Psychology class but they didn’t have enough seats for the all the students.

Since she has to make up the work missed on his internship day, he wanted two free periods. Also, as a senior he wanted it. Does this schedule look week? Currently, this year she has two AP classes.

Thank you in advance.

Worried Parent

Most schools will consider your D enrolled in 3 academic courses next year, English, Calc, and Econ. From the titles I’m assuming the English and Calc are not AP. Most schools are going to emphasize that they look for course rigor, so if there is an AP section offered, is your kid in it. However, you can be admitted to “good” schools without having taken AP courses even if they’re offered by your school.

Please do not post the same question multiple times. If your original post moves to the second page you can write “bump” in the comment to move it back up.

Also I would look online at the recommended/required HS classes for colleges she might consider and be sure she has sufficient classes in all disciplines (ex. Foreigh language, Science, SS)

currently she is in AP English, AP macro…next year regular English, she registered for AP Gov. and AP Cal.

thanks! IT WAS AN ERROR…I COULDN’T DELETE THE PREVIOUS POST.

I borrowed a college guide @ the library. it does say what classes specific colleges are looking for. we have adjusted her schedule since then. thank you!

Thanks. me too. They are great resource.
