Is it possible to host a PDF on the forum. I have two documents that are helpful to prospective Cal Poly students. I posted links, but they are now broken. I have PDF copies. Thanks.
Hi there…we don’t have a way to upload files to the forum. Are you able to paste the content itself into a new thread (I know some PDFs allow you to do this)?
I can try. I was pinned to the top. Is there a way to pin the new thread?
They are three multi page PDFs. One is 50 pages. I’m not sure how to upload that. Thoughts?
Wow…that is a lot of content. As for pinning the thread, we reserve a small of space for pinned threads so as not to clutter the top of the forum and force members to scroll to see new content. We’d have to evaluate it based on other, existing pinned threads.
You could try Ctrl-A to select all content on the PDF (again, assuming that it allows you to select the content), and then try copying and pasting. I do have concern that the amount of content will make such a thread difficult to use. You mention having three multi-page PDFs. How big are the other two?
34 and 13 pages respectively. I posted links about a year ago and it was subsequently pinned (Keys to the Kingdom, on the Cal Poly SLO forum). The main link is now broken. I was hoping to find a way to share my saved copies. Any other ideas?
Ah, okay…I was able to open the one at ipa.calpoly.edu (i.e. the “2014-2015 Target Report”, which is 13 pages), though the one at act.org is broken. I also noticed there is a link on the Keys to the Kingdom 2 thread for “Assessment of Present Cal Poly Admission Requirements” which is 34 pages. Those are two of the three that seem to be intact. The other one, which I assume is the 50-pager, is the one you are looking to share again. Is that correct? Or maybe you also have a hard copy of one that is a newer version that you’d like to share as well.
I wish I had some alternative ideas. You could potentially have saved it to a Google Doc and then shared that link, but we recently had to filter out Google Docs because spammers have been increasingly using that domain for their ‘content’. Let me think more on this. Feel free to tag me in a response later this week if you haven’t heard anything. Thanks!
Thanks Lenitus. There isn’t a newer one. I think Poly pulled it since it was never really intended for a broad market, even though it’s been up for years now.
Moderators will delete links to Google Docs or any other type of “private” site, because we can’t be sure that it’s not porn or spam, and we don’t have the time to check out every such link!
