How do top college admission folks percieve a student if he or she has attended more than 1 school for high school?
I’ve gone to 3, a highly competitive prep school in Taipei (Taipei American School freshman year) where i was only able to achieve Bs in math and science, a church school in Austin, Texas whose academics were laughable for sophomore year, and finally an Episcopal prep school in Austin, Texas where academics are pretty stellar. While I only managed to scrape up B-'s in Taipei, I’ve never averaged lower than 100 while residing in the states. I have all A’s and a 1480/1600 SAT. Will this improve my chances for admission to top colleges? Or will it be a detriment?

I don’t think it will be a deterrent, especially because you have good SATs and adcoms should realize that the school you were at freshman year was very competitive. Even if they don’t, your GPA shows an upward trend which is also good.

If your school in Taipei is reasonably well-known to Adcoms, you will be fine. No need to worry. Many US embassy affiliated schools in foreign countries are known to Adcoms. Is your school in that category?

its not embassy affiliated as Taiwan is not officially recognized by the United States, but it is the school where foreigners and influential people will send their kids and affilated with the “instutute” in Taiwan. and most of the top students attend elite private schools in the States.
-Not so stellar grades in math/science in Taipei caused the science courses i took in sophomore year to be the “regular courses” as opposed to the honors ones. The very conservative private school counselor would only allow me to go to the “honors courses” if i had an “A” last year. I didnt, so they sent me to regular class. Unfortunatly, the school sucked and had “honors” and “regular” people in the same class and everyone studied the same cheesy material except the “honors” people had to do extra projects. I’m hoping they wont look down upon this, since if I had the oppurtunity I would have chosen to be an “honors student” except the idiot counselor thought i was stupid for getting a B+. Conservative Christian School=horrible education and amazingly dull. I made A+'s in all the classes doing half an hour of hmk…damn…
