Attending USC courses without registering

I am a USC master of computer science student. My department limits me to take only 3 computer sciences courses. If I would like to just sit in other courses without registering for them to learn more (since I cannot register more), is that possible?

Do the lecturers take attendance on each lecture?

Thank you.

You can definitely do this. In larger lectures, it won’t be a problem at all. In smaller ones (20-30 students) teachers generally learn students’ names, and that could make it harder. But for classes with 50+ kids, it shouldn’t be a problem. Some classes take attendance, but not all. It depends on the class AND on the teacher. Attendance is normally the passing around of a sign up sheet and not names being called out for these bigger classes. You can simply pass the sheet to the person next to you and not sign in if you don’t want your attendance taken into consideration. But in discussion for these classes the TA’s generally learn students’ names and often call them out to take attendance.
