<p>I’m so sick of cleaning my cats’ litterbox! It is a twice a day chore that I absolutely … (insert all known synonyms of “hate” here)! There are thousand and thousands of frustrated cat owners like me who are willing to pay top dollars for a self-cleaning contraption that does work! Of course, there are the “raking” devices sold everywhere for $100, but they have so many problems I will not even consider trying one. A couple of companies came out with very snazzy $300 boxes that do look marvelous on paper, but after reading their reviews on Amazon, I will not touch them even with a long pole. So if any engineer can come up with a device that does not have the problems associated with the existing boxes, I guarantee you’ll have a huge market!</p>
<p>Might I add another couple of products I’d buy, if only they were available? </p>
<p>1.) A bass-seeking missile.
I’d test this first on several neighbors’ cars, and then carry one or more with me everywhere.</p>
<p>2.) A whole-house noise cancelling device.
If you are getting the impression that I’m sick of listening – and even feeling – other people’s music, you’d be correct.</p>
<p>I can add a third product, come to think of it:</p>
<p>3.) A noise-cancelling device that keeps a car’s noise inside that car. If this were built, I’d work to have its installation mandated by law in every car with a non-standard or powerful stereo.</p>
<p>And yeah, I’d like a self-cleaning litter box for the cats, too!</p>

<p>owlice, I laughed when I read your post. At first, I thought it was bass (as in fish)–thought, wow, you really want to nail those fish. Then as I read on and realized it was bass (as in music), I’ll agree with that too.</p>
<p>I would like some device to be put on cars that would automatically clean off that black dust that gets on the wheels from the brakes. I don’t wash car often (we’ve been on water restrictions for a good while), but people keep telling me that the brake dust will eat up finish on wheels.</p>
<p>Why not just have 4 or 5 nested boxes with mesh bottoms in the 3 or 4 smallest ones. Then every or everyother day take the smallest one out sieving the “clean” litter into the remaining ones. I am sure there must be something like this out there.</p>
<p>We keep our litter box in the basement, change the litter about once a week and dont bother cleaning it in between. We have had cats for 30+ years and none ever got sick or created a problem in the house doing this. Hey they lick their butts.</p>
<p>One more reason why dogs are better than cats. 
At least they don’t pee and poop in the house.</p>
<p>I thought this was going to be about energy saving devices! Perhaps more efficient cars, or cheaper solar panels.</p>
<p>Maybe not all the time. Have you ever seen what happens when a dog eats chocolate?</p>

<p>Given the amount of physical and mental energy I spend on cleaning the darn box, I’d say it might as well be considered an energy-saving device! ;)</p>
<p>mommusic: I dunno. My cats eat strange things that the dogs would not even thought about touching.</p>
<p>Just train your cat to ‘go’ outside. I had a cat that, while we had a litterbox, preferred to go while outside so we rarely had to change the litter. Then along came a coyote…</p>
<p>I have two outdoor cats (and 2 indoor). The outdoor ones spend much time on our screened porch that has a cat door. When it is rainy, they hate to go out to “go”–and sometimes would relieve themselves on the porch. I put a litter box out there and it was always soiled heavily and SMELLY. One night I found the cause–a raccoon was coming in there to use the litter box.</p>
<p>A friend of mine has the Litter-Maid (around $130) and it works just fine. </p>
<p>Even in the days when I had six cats (yes, well, yes, I was nuts), I never cleaned the litter box more than once a week. Just use good quality litter and LOTS of it.</p>
