Wow! My Valentine treat this morning (I’ve been watching my food intake…) was 1/2 english muffin with my first taste of Nutella. How have I missed out on this for the last 48 years!!! I love peanut butter too, but this is a delicious change!

Can’t wait to share my jar with my freshman D when she comes home for spring break later next week!

So I’m thinking a weekend breakfast will have to be crisp homemade waffles, spread with nutella and topped with sliced almonds (I’m an almond freak!)…can’t wait!!!

My S1 loves Nutella. He discovered it when we lived in Germany (since it is served everywhere!) I pointed out that it was available in the US - he had no idea. The rest of us can take it or leave it. I am a huge chocolate fan, but not that crazy about hazelnuts.

I could never get nutella to stay on fruit. I tried to use it as a fondue, but it kept sliding off. So, I return to my one and only way of eating it (as suggested by others before me)-- with a spoon right out of the jar! I have not had Nutella in my house for quite some time because I have absolutely no willpower when it comes to Nutella. So, must abstain. Maybe we need to start a Nutella Anonymous support group?

I’ve told this story on another thread, but it fits in the conversation here so please bear with me if you’ve read it before.

My D had a jar of Nutella with her at breakfast in the cafeteria at college, and one of her new friends asked what it was. Someone else at the table chimed in and described it like this: “Nutella…is sex in a jar!”

Try Nutella on a warm flour tortilla for a quick snack. Another way we like it is filling the hole of thumbprint cookies. The Nutella bakes up slightly crunchy on top but stays creamy soft underneath. That characteristic also makes it good spread on sweet roll dough, rolled, sliced and baked like you would prepare cinnamon rolls. But if you don’t want to go to so much trouble, nothing wrong with layers of Nutella and marshmallow cream on buttery crackers.
