hectorbo: i got accepted. i hope you get accepted, too ! i applied to HSS

I dont understand. How can decisions suddenly come up online at 12 am? The only way for CMU to be able to do that is by having the decisions already in the database and a code to simply display it when the timer hits. Another way is that they upload a gigantic database of fourth wave decisions which theyve just completed, which seems unlikely. That said, it is reasonable to assume that CMU is plain mean.

I’ll be here tomorrow night guys…maybe it’ll give me an excuse to do homework.

i agree… i don’t really understand how the system works
i never had a blank line and my status didn’t say any document was sent after jan.
(shouldn’t it say march 24th because that was the last date ?!)

and when i called, they sounded really annoyed :(

yeah CMU has the worst decision process ever. From what Ive seen theyve been only sending out acceptances and waitlistings. welllll congrats on your acceptance caela! :D

the decisions are obviously in a database that only becomes accessable to applicants after midnight

just like collegeboard and the SAT (remember when they used to screw up and you could see your scores with a little tweaking of javascript?
)

@futureEE interesting. never heard of that before. when was it? link?

I apparently have an empty line under the “documents RECEIVED” page, with a date but I don’t know what document taht would be since I’m pretty sure I have sent everything required…
and the date is march 23…
think they might have put the date my letter was mailed in the wrong place? since it sounds like something they might do

yea I got no update. When do you guys think we’ll hear back?

hectorbo,

the thing with the SATs worked about this time last year

We may as well see if we get anything next midnight.

I know I will be doing this every night until the decision comes out.

The stated last letter sent date at some point in time was Wednesday, which means tonight / Sunday midnight could potentially be the last online posting date.

But then, it is CMU admissions.

^It looks like they lied about Wednesday being the last day of letter mailing though… In Jaycie Galbraith’s response to ayeleswarapu’s questions, she stated that “We will continue to read applications and mail decision letters through the end of March.”

This is really frustrating. Accepted at Boston College and NYU so far, and waiting for Wesleyan and CMU. It’s ridiculous that the CMU wait feels so much more interminable - Wesleyan was really prompt (they replied my email in like, 30 min) in telling me why I couldn’t access my decision yet.

i thought the reason they do this online posting after three day thing is because they want us to receive their letter first…which isnt happening for anyone, right? this really makes no sense…i think the majority of the people posting on this thread would much prefer they upload the decisions right after they are made, whether or not the letter directly follows…

^My sentiments exactly.

I live right at the other end of the globe, my actual snail mail envelope won’t get here for AGES. My NYU acceptance package came in the mail two weeks after I received an acceptance email.

Ah well. The wait will be over soon, hopefully. At this point, I just want to know more than anything, so I can start making some informed and CONCRETE decisions about attending college instead of twiddling my thumbs at my computer.

It has been a week and a day since they started sending stuff and we haven’t gotten ours. That is absolutely ridiculous.

I just have a blank line
nothing else

blaah

Nothing in the mail today… Guess I’ll be up again!

I’m sure we’re all rejected. :(

Today, I opened my mailbox and saw a huge envelope.

It was from JHU. Not Carnegie Mellon. ■■■
