My son had also planned to apply RD to the audio production program at AU but he got into NEU and now isn’t sure. GL to your S. Where else is he applying?
He’s applying to Berklee, U. Denver (Lamont), Elon, Syracuse, Hartt, and Columbia in Chicago.
We actually had a chance to visit American just prior to Covid, and he was able to meet with the Audio Production director, as well as some of the students, and he had a good feeling there. He does wish the program was housed within the music department though, instead of Arts & Sciences. It’s been hard finding Audio Production/Engineering programs that are BM’s.
applied : RD on 09/27 school/major : SIS/international studies applying to honors college : no gpa : 3.9 UW sat/act : test optional ECs : solid ECs w/ strong emphasis on activities like ethnic background, community service, and politics LORs : strong I think lol
Thanks! My son also applied to Drexel (accepted), U. Mich (rejected), Elon, Connecticut College and USC (high reach). He plans to apply to NYU and possibly American and Rochester. He considered Berklee but a conservatory probably isn’t the best fit. Syracuse, same thing, though he considered it. Looks like a great program nevertheless. GL to your son!
Hillybean, Good luck to your son! Mine also considered USC, Rochester and NYU as well, but in the end decided against them due to various reasons. Others that were in the running, but ultimately were taken off the list were: Miami (Frost), Belmont, Middle Tennessee and New Haven. He was planning on doing a summer audio production camp at NYU this past summer, but they transitioned it to virtual, so he decided for the price they were still charging, it wasn’t worth it.
He is a musician and plays several instruments, so he’s looking for an audio production program where he can also be involved in various ensembles and be able to get more music and theory background classes. So far he’s heard back from Hartt (accepted), Columbia College (accepted), Elon (accepted to music dept based on audition, will get university decision this friday). He still needs to do live zoom auditions for Berklee and Denver which are scheduled for January, and he needs to submit a recorded audition to Syracuse by the end of this month.
Wow! Good luck to him. Those all sound like amazing options. You’ll never believe this, but my son was also accepted to the NYU summer audio production program but passed because of the cost.
My D is applying for Comm PR, 4.13 W GPA, 1330 SAT, lots of EC’s, leadership, sports, community service, school newspaper, AP classes, honors, Global Humanities Academy at her HS
Hi…my son applied RD for the CLEG program. SAT scores canceled due to Covid. 4.2 W (UW 3.8). Some EC’s: Intern at State House for three summers, Peer Mentor, Officer in Model UN and Philosophy Club. Some academic medals and awards. National Honor Society. Data Science intern for local politician. AP’s, Honors and Accelerated Course load. Not applying to Honors College. Good luck to all!
hey guys, RD applicant here. i don’t think i’ve received an email to set up my applicant portal yet. has anyone else had this issue? am i missing something?
My S21 and I took part in a virtual info event yesterday, and they said applicants can and should send in a resume/CV - yet there was no place to do that on the CommonApp (too late now, anyway), and I don’t see it on the Future-Eagle site, either… Any insight? Thanks!
