Auburn or Florida State?

Just in general, which has a better reputation? More academically focused students with big sports scene? Better for OOS? Better student life? Gives better OOS scholarships? Better honors program? Better campus/surrounding are? Thanks for all responses!

The (academic) reputation is about the same for both schools. When you look at major, you may find one that’s has a better program than the other (for example, Auburn has a better/more established engineering program), but at the university level, the reputation is very similar.

In general, FSU is more selective, so the freshman class will have higher GPA’s and test scores on average, but I wouldn’t think it’s a significant difference. Both are big sports schools (SEC vs ACC).

For OOS students, both schools are comparable. FSU is more economically and socially diverse.

OOS scholarships? FSU offers a OOS tuition wavier (I think the cutover this year was a 31 or 32 ACT score), which brings the tuition down to in-state rates (which are about $6,500 a year), Plus some additional scholarships.

Auburn offers automatic merit based scholarships (OOS tuition and fees are about $30K a year):

Finally, Auburn is a college town, while FSU is in Florida’s capitol, so the two campuses/cities have a different vibe. However, students are, in general, very happy with both campuses.
